The works comprised the design and construction of a new three storey Teaching Block encompassing Classrooms, Offices, Toilet Facilities and Core Areas. The building comprised a steel frame construction, SFS with an insulated render and facing brickwork façade, together with aluminium windows, curtain walling and doors. The insulated roofing system includes an array of roof lights for natural lighting. Externally, there is a external enclosed fire escape staircase and associated external works including soft landscaping and pedestrian footpaths.
The MEPH scope of works included LED energy efficient lighting, a PV installation for direct electric energy generation, a full VRF ventilation system for heating and comfort cooling, and a new DDA compliant platform lift. A new fire main was also undertaken to upgrade the school provisions.
Following the successful handover of the new build element, asbestos removal and careful demolition of an adjacent teaching block was undertaken, all working around the constraints of a live school environment.
