What was our role?

Hutton Shopfitting was appointed by The Cooperative Group after the client had identified structural issues with the shop floor. High levels of water ingress coupled with poor ventilation to the basement area caused large sections of the floor to become rotten and lose structural integrity.

Our strip-out and reinstatement of the whole shop floor area took just two and a half weeks. Our quick turnaround meant the shop could open again as soon as possible.

Externally we replaced the pavement lights and reinstated the shopfront risers, which had disintegrated due to damp/ventilation issues. We also installed new access hatches with permanent ladder access and a full ventilation and fire protection system to ensure compliance with the latest legislation. We reinstalled the existing fixtures and fittings, and fridge cases.

To mark our completion of the project the Co-op celebrated with a re-launch event to open the shop. The client team stated that they “were really pleased with the revamped store for our colleagues, creating an improved shopping experience also for the local community.”
